First Day Back!

Tuesday 7th July is a bit of a history maker for us at PARC. Being the first day opening after the covid-19 lockdown back in late March.
Although the turnout was much smaller than expected, and we were blighted with rain, those who did come enjoyed their first club shoot in a long time!
I hope David Firth doesn’t mind me quoting from our FB page:

“Got to say a massive well done to all who have been involved with opening the range back up. Been down this afternoon proper hive of activity, but more importantly the layout has been really well thought out so nobody comes across anybody by accident, everything is marked up and signed so you know where you can & can’t go.
Anybody who isn’t sure go see for yourselves it really is as safe as could possibly be under the circumstances.
Brilliant effort by all involved and thank you.”

Amendments to Guidelines

The government has announced its new lockdown easing measures, effective from the 4th July.

The maximum number of people allowed in any gathering is 30. As we had already stipulated a 30 to 40 maximum attendance per session, this is now amended to 30 maximum.

As our plinking ranges are technically classed as indoor (more than 50% enclosed), we can not use them as they are, even with 2m bench spacing. Therefore we will have to move the benches forward, meaning they will no longer be classed as indoor, ie if it rains, you will get wet.

Before anyone complains please bear this in mind – the committee have sole responsibility for determining when and where our members can shoot. If we are complicit in allowing members to break the law, we are responsible for any legal action that may result as a consequence. In other words, you may not agree to the 70mph speed limit on the motorway, but that is the law, and there are consequences if you are caught.

We cannot put any committee member in the position where they may face consequences for giving permission for others to break the law.

This situation is frustrating. None of us want it. Unfortunately, we have to work with it until things return to normal. Your forbearance as members is needed to enable us all to get through this difficult time as smoothly as possible.

PARC Re-Opening On Tuesday 7th July

We are pleased to announce that PARC will re-open on Tuesday 7th July at 10:00.
Bookings for this session will commence on Tuesday 30th June at 09:00 06:30 BY EMAIL ONLY. The reasons for doing this are as follows:
Emails arrive in date and time order making it simple to compile a list of first come, first served bookings. Emails also have all the information needed to transfer electronically to a spreadsheet. Taking bookings by phone would mean having to write down all the details as they came in – a hugely time consuming process. Also, phone bookings would be very intrusive, and may go unanswered if the call is unable to be taken at that time.
As we have stated in the guidelines below, this is all new.
Over time the process will be refined. If you don’t have an email address, but own a smartphone, then getting an email address is free and simple.
Many clubs operate on an online booking system only. Those without internet access get a friend or family member to book on their behalf.

A Quick Note On Memberships…

A few members have been asking if we will be entitled to refunds given the current situation.
The committee is looking at giving a reduction on next year’s fee for those who have paid prior to the lockdown. Anyone requesting a refund must bear in mind that they will no longer be able to shoot at PARC once the club opens, and will be unable to rejoin for the foreseeable future, as we have closed all new memberships.
Last year’s members who have not paid their subs this year will be unable to rejoin this year.
Very regrettably, all those currently in the induction phase will be unable to complete their inductions and will have their deposits refunded.

PARC hoping to re-open on Tuesday 7th July

Providing there are no government announcements preventing us from doing so, we are pleased to announce that PARC is intending to re-open on Tuesday 7th July 2020.

Necessarily, our method of operation will change substantially.
With the need to help prevent further spikes in the spread of Covid-19, we have put a great deal of thought into reducing risk for our members. Apart from making the site as safe as reasonably practicable, we also have to consider the number of shooters on site at any given time. As this is a new situation for all of us, we hope you will understand that the decisions we make now can, and probably will, be subject to revision as new guidelines and our own experiences evolve.
Therefore, and in line with government and insurance requirements, we will be issuing a set of guidelines, which will be published HERE in due course.

The committee has had a ‘virtual’ meeting and agreed that the club will remain closed at least until the end of June. At that point, the committee will meet once more, and, taking into account the situation at that time with respect to government guidelines, will consider ways of opening the club safely, and in accordance with any safety rules imposed by the government and insurance requirements.

The committee hopes that all members will understand the reasons for our decisions, and ask that you bear with us in these unprecedented times.
Our fervent wish is to get the club back to as close to normal as restrictions allow, as soon as practically possible.


The committee has taken the decision to close the club today, 23rd March, for the foreseeable future. This has been decided in the best interests of our club members.
The combination has been changed and no member should try and gain access.
We will monitor the situation daily and update this page as necessary.
We are sure you will understand the necessity of this decision and thank you for your patience in these unprecedented times.
